New ANJC leader -- Sig Miller, DC, thanked the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors for his appointment as its first executive director.

ANJC selects first executive director

New Jersey chiropractors, united in one group — the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors — has picked an executive director. Sig Miller, DC, will head the organization, which was formed in January when six different associations put aside differences to focus on common grounds.

Gene Veno, executive vice president of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association, had been instrumental in unifying the associations. He served as acting director while a search committee engaged in finding the association’s first director.

Miller, who is well known among the chiropractic community as the host of Chiroviewpresents.com, a periodic teleseminar, accepted the appointment Saturday. He told Chiropractic Economics that his immediate focus will be on meeting with the regional leaders in small groups to discuss ideas, hopes, goals and a vision for the association.

“We want to grow to at least 2,500 chiropractors [out of 3,000 licensed in New Jersey],” said Miller. “One way that we’ll be able to do this is to provide tangible benefits that make the association clearly distinctive.”

To achieve this, Miller has a laundry list of ideas. The top three include:

• Gift packs. Members will receive products and services of significant value when they join.

• Jersey chiro chat. Miller wants to implement a dial in “chat” in which members can listen to presentations by noted authorities.

• Mentoring for female chiropractors. “We want to provide information and help for women in chiropractic,” he said.

In broader terms, Miller is seeking to:

• Increase membership by offering extraordinary benefits and services that demonstrate membership advantages;

• Serve existing members by helping them deal successfully with challenges of every day practice;

• Help members build meaningful relationships throughout the communities in which they service to help them grow their practices;

• Implement effective ways to generate revenues for ANJC trough establishing business relationships;

• Maintain a clear vision on the role chiropractic serves in improving quality of life; and

• Focus on legislative and other related issues designed to preserve and protect the philosophy, art and science of chiropractic.

With the announcement of Miller’s appointment, Veno sent congratulations to the ANJC board. “I wish you all the best of success in the coming months with your new executive director. I believe Dr. Miller … has a command of the issues at hand. The board will now begin a new chapter in ANJC’s history. I have no doubt ANJC will reach new heights and accomplish many new goals and achievements in the years to come.”

Veno’s contributions to New Jersey were not left unheralded. Mark Magos, DC, a member of the board of directors, thanked Veno in an e-mail: “I will never be thankful enough that you led the way in uniting our great profession … Thank you for your diligent hard work, guidance and support. You have accomplished what was considered by many to be next to impossible and have taught us well.”

Miller is a 1977 graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Mo. He practiced in California for 24 years and also serves as senior editor for ChiroviewPresents.com. For more information on ANJC or to become a member call 732.264.4200, email sig@anjc.info or visit www.anjc.info .
