Unity a theme at COCSA meeting

Regardless if it was an official theme, an air of unity seemed to permeate the annual meeting of the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations, according to Gene Veno, executive vice president of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association. Veno spoke to COCSA members on unity.

“Unity is not about merger,” Veno told Chiropractic Economics. “It’s about moving forward.” He said that the unity movements in New Jersey and Pennsylvania were successful because four elements came together at the same time:

• Timing,

• Passion,

• Commitment and

• Relationships.

“If any of these is missing, unity can’t occur,” he said.

Veno led a panel discussion with the president of the New Jersey Association of Chiropractors and the past president of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association, who told COCSA members about the steps leading up to unity in their states.

New York is already talking about unity, said Veno, and reaffirmed its interest at the meeting. Michigan also expressed interest, and “Georgia asked if I make house calls!” he said.
