November 2004
Sherman’s research and philosophy symposium
deemed successful
Approximately 100 doctors of chiropractic and students attended Sherman College’s first annual International Research and Philosophy Symposium (IRAPS) in October on the college’s campus in Spartanburg, S.C.
IRAPS combined the college’s annual philosophy and research conferences to allow for in-depth exploration of the relationship of these two crucial aspects of the chiropractic profession. The combined conference format was designed to invite and encourage global multidisciplinary participation.
The 2004 conference theme was based on an investigation of the relationship between philosophy and science. Christopher Kent, DC, was keynote speaker. Other presenters included Ashley Cleveland, DC; Peter Grabyshak, DC; Joe Strauss, DC; John Zhang, MD, PhD; and Stephen Perle, DC, MS.
Richard Barwell, D.C., was awarded $500 for best presentation for “The Effect of the Chiropractic Adjustment on the Brain Wave Pattern as Measured by QEEG.”
