N.J. parity bill passes committee
A “parity bill” introduced into the New Jersey Assembly passed out of the Assembly Financial Institutions and Insurance committee by a 6 to 1 vote on May 13. This legislation will mandate that chiropractors be reimbursed at the same rate as MD's, DO's, PT's, and other providers when performing the same or similar service.
The bill is the first major legislative initiative of the newly united Association of New Jersey Chiropractors (ANJC
Another ANJC legislative initiative is a workers’ compensation bill (A433), which has already been introduced and listed in the Assembly. This legislation mandates that all NJ employees be permitted to select the doctor of their choice for work injuries, which would include doctors of chiropractic. Currently the employer and/or insurance company dictate where an injured employee can receive care and chiropractic is generally not an option. Additional legislation is also being readied that would protect the Subluxation from PT's and others looking to infringe on our unique chiropractic procedures.
