NCA accredits Palmer Florida CC
The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) has granted accreditation status for Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida (PCCF), Port Orange, Fla., as a branch campus of Palmer College of Chiropractic (PCC), Davenport, Iowa, according to Donald Kern, DC, interim president of Palmer College of Chiropractic.
The formal announcement came in a letter dated Feb. 13, notifying Palmer that the NCA's Institutional Actions Council voted on Feb. 9 "to extend your accreditation to include the Master of Science in Clinical Research Training [in Davenport] and the Doctor of Chiropractic program at the Port Orange site."
The NCA's Higher Learning Commission Board of Trustees validated that action on Feb. 13.
NCA is one of six regional accrediting agencies in the United States. It accredits K-12 schools plus postsecondary educational institutions, including junior colleges, colleges, and universities in its region, which spans 19 states and approximately 1,200 colleges and universities. Palmer College of Chiropractic has had NCA accreditation since 1984.
PCCF submitted a report to NCA in July 2003 requesting consideration for accreditation as a PCC branch campus. An NCA site team conducted a campus visit in August 2003.
PCCF plans to host a team from the Council on Chiropractic Education to determine if PCCF is eligible for CCE accreditation as a branch campus.
