DC talks ‘chiropractic’
to Russians
A chiropractor and two “lay”
people who are passionate about chiropractic spent their own
time and money to expand the use of chiropractic in Russia.
Sherry Durrett, DC, LCP (hon), joined by
Mark DeEulio and Larry Berg, both professional speakers for
the Masters Club of David Singer Enterprises, spent 11 days
at the end of June, in Russia.
Funding their own travels, the three journeyed
to Moscow and St. Petersburg and spent time meeting with governmental
officials, opinion leaders, doctors and the one known chiropractor
practicing in Moscow, Dr. Charles Register, a Life College
of Chiropractic graduate.
According to Durrett, the group learned
that President Putin is concerned about the low health index
of his constituency, as well as the short life span of Russian
citizens. A solution to this concern, said Durrett, is to
open chiropractic clinics around the country, educate the
Russian people about chiropractic and open a school to train
chiropractors.
Durrett says a strong interest in chiropractic
and other forms of alternative healing exists among Russians.
“I don’t think that the citizens of the older
MDs are completely ‘brainwashed’ by drug advertising
as they are here, at least, not yet to the extent Americans
are. I think it will be a race, though, because I did see
some signs of drug advertising.”
Durrett told Chiropractic Economics that the trip developed out of a genuine concern to expand
the use of chiropractic in Russia. Although she has not yet
set up a nonprofit organization, Durrett is trying to coordinate
help on this project. She urges any chiropractor who has an
interest in possibly practicing in Russia or in going to Russia
to teach to contact her at drdurrett@msn.com.
