ANJC continues growth and accomplishments

Six months into its first year, the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors (ANJC) reports it has 800 active due-paying charter members, with a goal of 1,000 inaugural members by the end of 2004.

According to acting executive director Gene Veno, ANJC — which united six associations in the state — has already accomplished a number of initiatives:

• Filed for an Administrative Hearing against Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey for reducing chiropractic reimbursement rates effective June 2004 and for refusing to pay for examinations and ancillary chiropractic procedures.

• Succeeded in gaining passage through the Assembly Committee the ANJC sponsored “Insurance Parity Bill.” This bill guarantees that chiropractic services be reimbursed at the same rate as the same or similar services provided by any other doctor. The ANJC is awaiting the resumption of the fall legislative session to continue our efforts with the full Assembly.

• Established a state of the art bi-weekly electronic newsletter to keep members informed of all licensure, insurance and association issues.

• Completed arrangements for New Jersey’s first unified statewide chiropractic convention in conjunction with New Beginnings Seminars for Oct. 21-24, 2004.

• In the process of establishing an Insurance Hotline to assist ANJC members and their staff with common insurance issues.

• Established chiropractic assistant seminars to educate and inform front office and staff on the best chiropractic practices.

• In the process of establishing coding and documentation programs to inform/educate the doctor and staff to achieve reimbursements.

• Established talks with various insurance carriers to insure retrospective reviews are handled in accordance with proper guidelines.

• Joined the Congress Of Chiropractic State Associations (COCSA).

• Established a Legal and Educational Foundation.

• Developed a Web site (www.anjc.info) for all members to obtain vital chiropractic information.
