FCER celebrates
60 years of research
The Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER)
is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2004. FCER was launched
as the Chiropractic Research Foundation in 1944 by a group
of chiropractors who each donated $1,000.
FCER hopes to raise $1 million for research
and education programs during its 60th anniversary year to
benefit the chiropractic profession through a “$60 for
60 Years” anniversary campaign. The Web link for a $60
donation is http://www.fcer.org/Donate60.htm.
FCER has funded the research and researchers
on which the chiropractic profession now relies. This research
has encompassed such areas as low back pain, headache, otitis
media, neck pain, and carpal tunnel syndrome more. FCER has
also funded research fellowships and research residencies.
The fellowship program is designed to build
a research infrastructure. Fellowships are awarded to chiropractors
who are pursuing advanced degrees and who have earned distinction
in their academic and professional careers.
The residency program is designed to increase
the number of qualified researchers in fields pertaining to
chiropractic at accredited institutions.
