Logan prof appointed to state council
Deanna Bates, DC, assistant professor in the Chiropractic Science Division and clinician in the Logan Student Health Center, has been appointed to serve on the Missouri State Advisory Council on Pain and Symptom Management.
The council’s purpose is to prepare an annual report for the director of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the state legislative bodies and the governor’s Office. The report may address a variety of issues related to pain as a health issue, including recommendations related to state policies, pain management requirements for institutions providing healthcare education, and improvements to the healthcare system to address pain.
Bates was nominated by the Missouri State Board of Chiropractic Examiners to serve on the council as the chiropractic profession’s representative. Other council members represent the fields of pharmacy, physical therapy, nursing, dentistry, medical pain management, anesthesiology, psychiatry, physician assistant services and state government.
Bates is a graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic. She has served on the Logan faculty since 1997.
