Northwestern CC eliminates summer enrollment
DECEMBER 22, 2004 — Northwestern College of Chiropractic at Northwestern Health Sciences University is eliminating summer enrollment beginning with the summer term in 2006. Historically, only 18-20 students enroll in the summer term, compared to more than 100 in the fall and more than 70 in the winter. Students will continue to be able to take courses in the summer, but will only be able to take courses in the summer, but will only be able to begin their careers at Northwestern in the fall or winter.
By eliminating summer enrollment, Northwestern will be able to focus its resources on the remaining two entrances, winter or fall, and save time and money, says Jim McDonald, MBA, vice president and chief financial officer at Northwestern. The school anticipates a more efficient recruiting process and more cost-effective educational program.
The university has nearly 1,000 students on a 25-acre campus in Bloomington, Minn. It recently awarded 74 students degrees of doctor of chiropractic during the college's 111th commencement ceremony.
