Chiropractic ‘wins’ place
in the Olympics
Chiropractic care will help
U.S. decathlon athletes take home the gold in the 2004 Olympics
in Greece.
Athletes preparing for the
Olympics will receive chiropractic care at five training sites
and 15 major decathlon events that lead up to the Olympics.
The care will be provided because of Kats Management’s
sponsorship of the World’s Greatest Athletes Decathlon
Club on behalf of chiropractic.
The Decathlon Club has traditionally
been named after the paid sponsor. In past years, it was called
the Visa Decathlon Club. Although Kats is the sponsor, the
company wanted to focus attention on chiropractic. “Our
goal was to be the first to bring national recognition in
a major positive way to the chiropractic profession and this
is the way we can do it,” stated Keith Maule, CEO of
Kats Management.
The Decathlon Club provides
decathlon athletes with training sites, coaches, medical care
and finances to get them to all of their meets. All former
gold medalists as well as those training and favored to win
the gold this year are members of this organization.
Forty chiropractors will provide
care to athletes. “Chiropractic care plays a crucial
role in preventing injuries in world class athletes as well
as amateur athletes, says Tom Pappas, 2003 World Indoor Heptathlon
and Outdoor Decathlon champion who is favored to win the gold
medal in 2004 in Greece.
Athletes will receive chiropractic
care at five training centers and at 15 major decathlon events
that lead up to the Olympics. The events include the World
Indoor Track and Field Championship in Hungary; Multistars
Invitational Decathlon in Italy; Hypo Bank Invitational Decathlon
in Austria; Decastar Decathlon in France; and several stateside
track and field meets.
