Cleveland College to operate clinic in hospital
Cleveland Chiropractic College (CCC) and Truman Medical Center (TMC) are finalizing an affiliation agreement through which CCC will operate its own chiropractic clinic inside TMC's Lakewood hospital near Lee's Summit, Mo. The agreement became effective September 1, and the college anticipates providing chiropractic services at TMC-Lakewood beginning in October.
With this cooperative venture, CCC interns will gain experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting. They will learn hospital protocol while educating other healthcare providers on the benefits of chiropractic care.
"Positioning a Cleveland clinic in the TMC facility sets a precedent for chiropractic education, as well as the profession," president Carl S. Cleveland III said of the partnership, which is the first of its kind. "This program will not only enhance student clinical experience and provide quality patient care, it will provide an opportunity to introduce chiropractic and its educational program into a full-service, multidisciplinary community hospital system. This is yet another example of the profession's advancement as part of mainstream health care."
"The agreement helps strengthen TMC Lakewood as a full-service healthcare facility," Sheriece Moses, TMC assistant director of marketing, business and community development, said. "It gives the community more health-care choices. We're extremely excited to be involved in an exclusive partnership with a high-quality institution the likes of Cleveland Chiropractic College."
