CAM research fellowship available for DCs

Chiropractors who are interested in researching complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) are invited to apply for a research fellowship from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), a component of the National Institutes of Health.

This fellowship has a goal of preparing the selected individual for a career as an independent CAM investigator. The fellowship includes full salary, benefits, professional travel and research support for two to three years. The fellow will undertake clinical, translational and/or laboratory research in NCCAM’s Division of Intramural Research (DIR), in Bethesda, Md.

Doctors of chiropractic are eligible to compete for the fellowship. Likewise, the competition is open to applicants who have an MD, DO, PhD, DMD, ND, DVM or other equivalent degree and have a record of excellence and promise in clinical and/or laboratory-based research, preferably related to CAM.

According to Christopher Baran of NIH, “To receive consideration, candidates must submit a curricula vitae, bibliography, names of three references and a one-page cover letter summarizing their scientific interests and experience.” Applications should be sent to: Christopher Baran, Office of Human Resources, National Institutes of Health, 31 Center Dr., Room 2C12, Bethesda, MD 20892.

For more information, call 888-644-62226 or visit the NCCAM Web site at www.nccam.nih.gov.
