New leaders take helm at ACA

OCT. 1, 2003 — New leaders took the helm during the American Chiropractic Association’s recent annual meeting in Albuquerque, N.M., September 18-20. They replace officers whose terms had expired.

Top leaders for 2004 are Dr. Donald Krippendorf, of St. Petersburg, Fla., president and Dr. George McClelland, of Christiansburg, Va., chairman of the board of governors.

Prior to being elected president, Krippendorf had served as vice president of the ACA for two years, as president of the ACA’s Council of Delegates for two years, and as ACA’s North Florida delegate for 10 years. He is also a past president of the Florida Chiropractic Association.

McClelland has served on the ACA Board of Governors since 1999, and on its executive committee for the past two years. Prior to being elected to the Board, McClelland served as ACA’s Virginia Delegate for 18 years. He has also been active with the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) and currently serves as its vice president, as well as a member of its Research Committee, Board of Trustees and President’s Council. He was FCER president from 1990 to 1996.

Dr. Lewis Bazakos, of Valley Stream, N.Y., was elected as the third member of the executive committee. Dr. Richard Brassard, of Beaumont, Texas, was elected vice president.

Outgoing Chairman Dr. James Edwards, of Austin, Texas, will remain on the board as governor of District 6, and outgoing president Dr. Daryl Wills, of Gering, Neb., will remain on the board as immediate past president. Dr. Blair Bauer, former ACA delegate to North Dakota, replaces Dr. Roger Combs as governor of District 1 and Dr. John Gentile replaces Dr. J. Michael Flynn as governor of District 5.

In Council of Delegate elections, Dr. Glenn Manceaux, of Houma, La., was elected president of the Council of Delegates, Dr. Rick McMichael, of Canton, Ohio, was elected vice president of the Council of Delegates, and Dr. David Herd, of Geneva, N.Y., was elected secretary of the Council of Delegates.
