Life West names student of the year
Prakash, a senior, was selected Student of the Year because of his solid academic standing and his numerous contributions to Life West, the college's community and the chiropractic profession.
The Baltimore, Md., native has served as a student council representative for eight quarters and has been an active member of the Life West Delta Sigma Chi fraternity, in which he has served as president, secretary, corresponding secretary and pledge master. During the past three years, he has volunteered his time to serve as a greeter at each on-campus open house, an usher at every graduation ceremony and as a guest speaker ambassador at all annual SPA Day and Spring for Life conferences. In addition, he has been a contributing writer for the student newspaper.
Prakash has worked with the Life West BACKpack Drive — a school backpack drive for local at-risk children. He has volunteered with the biannual Bay Shore Environmental Clean-Up days and with the Family Emergency Shelter Coalition's Shelter Shuffle fundraiser.
During his time at Life West, Prakash has also been active in the chiropractic profession. He is a member of the college's Federation of Straight Chiropractors Organization Club, International Chiropractors Association, World Chiropractic Alliance, Foundation for the Advancement of Chiropractic Education, National Vaccine Information Center, and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. He is also the founding member of the Student International Chiropractors Association Council on Chiropractic Philosophy.
