ICA issues call for papers
The ICA Council on Chiropractic Philosophy has issued a Call for Papers for its second annual Conference on Philosophical Chiropractic Standards to be held at the Radisson South End Plaza Tower, June 25-27, 2004 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Authors are invited to submit a short abstract of not more than 250 words by December 1, 2003. If accepted, authors will be expected to make a 15-minute oral presentation at the conference and submit the complete paper for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings. Presenters will be responsible for their own travel and accommodations but registration fees to the conference will be discounted for author(s).
All papers must relate to chiropractic philosophy and its relationship to the science, art and practice of chiropractic, keeping in perspective the statement rendered by R. W. Stephenson, DC, PhC in his 1927 chiropractic textbook:
"Chiropractic Philosophy is the explanation of principles and knowledge and art of everything used in Chiropractic."
Some suggested topics are:
• The clinical utility of chiropractic philosophy
• How chiropractic philosophy will face the challenge of the millennium
• The vertebral subluxation and its relationship to chiropractic philosophy
• Proposing a philosophically congruent model for chiropractic research
• The philosophical barrier between chiropractic and medicine
• A review of a philosophic concept offered by Dr. Fred Barge.
Papers are not restricted to the above topics but they should follow the intent and purpose of the conference.
All abstracts should be e-mailed to Dr. Eric Russell at beaconchiro@koyote.com or faxed to him at 903-886-3177 or to the ICA Philosophy Council office at 703-351-7893. Abstracts will be reviewed and authors of accepted papers will be notified by December 22, 2003. Complete papers will be due no later than February 23, 2004.
