Canfield identifies prerequisites for success
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Before Three things are necessary before you can attain true success, best-selling author Jack Canfield told a crowd of more than 2,000 at The Masters Circle Super Seminar. Outlining them with humor and anecdotes, Canfield, co-author of Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul©, explained the three things:
1. Full responsibility. You have to take full – 100 percent – responsibility for your life and the results you achieve in life, he said. The formula to keep in mind is E + R = O. That is, Event + Response = Outcome.
“People complain about the outcomes in life,” said Canfield. “They like to blame events, because it’s less risky.” But you can’t change the event; it just is.
To change an outcome, you must change the equation. And that means changing your response.
2. Surround yourself with positive people. And make sure they are solution-oriented.
Avoid toxic people, said Canfield. One negative person on your staff can affect the energy of everyone around you, because you become like the people you associate with. Consequently, you should surround yourself with energetic, positive individuals. They will affect you in a good way.
3. Decrease TV time. No matter what amount of television you watch each day (and most Americans watch approximately six hours daily), cut out one hour a day.
“Just think what you get by cutting out one hour of television,” he said. “You get 365 hours a year. That’s more than nine weeks a year - a lot of time to do the things you don’t have time to do now.
