Life University and CCE call cease fire

A cease-fire between Life University and the Council on Chiropractic Education has been called.

According to an official statement, issued jointly by Life University’s president, Dr. Ben C. DeSpain and the CCE, the university has reached an agreement to resolve the issues surrounding the accreditation status of the university’s doctor of chiropractic program.

The news release states that the agreement continues Life’s current accredited status and provides for a special accreditation process that is scheduled to be completed by the end of January 2005.

A spokesperson for Life University told Chiropractic Economics that the agreement does not permit disclosure of additional details at this time.

Life University has been battling the CCE since it was put on probation two years ago. It lost its accreditation last June and has gone to court to has it reinstated. In February 2003, a federal district court in Atlanta issued a preliminary injunction ordering the CCE to return the doctor of chiropractic program to the accreditation status it held prior to the CCE revocation.
