'Dream job' comes to an end
Some people get the dream jobs literally. Tom Wilson, the self-proclaimed King of Sleep, slept his way across America on a 10-day trip from California to New York. The purpose of his dream journey was to promote the benefits of sleep and raise awareness about common and sometimes dangerous sleep disorders.
King was wired to a polysomnograph, which measured brain patterns to tell a technician when he was sleeping. Each days (or nights) travel took place only when King was asleep. As soon as the machine alerted the technician that he was awake, the sleep mobile stopped. It took 10 days to travel across country.
During the times that the sleep mobile was stopped, King was available to the press and media for interviews.
The dream job was sponsored by a number of companies who promote sleep-related products.
