Ergonomics reduces back pain by 63%

Recent findings in a population of frequent laptop computer users found that 65 percent of adults in desk jobs complained of spinal pain. When the employees’ laptop carriers (both briefcases and backpacks) were replaced with similar ones using ergonomic technology, the instances of reported pain declined 32 percent and the amount of reported pain declined 63 percent.

According to Dr. Jerry DeGrado, vice president of the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations, "This is very exciting initial research as it indicates that a significant level of spinal pain can be reduced by simply carrying heavy cases with ergonomic assistance. Intuitively, people with less pain will be more productive at work."
