NYCC to offer new masters in diagnostic imaging

Doctors of chiropractic will have an opportunity to earn a new masters degree in diagnostic radiology from New York Chiropractic College. The New York Sate Department of Education recently granted approval for the program, which is a first in chiropractic.

According to NYCC, the program will be instrumental in redefining postgraduate chiropractic education. Students will be able to earn masters in diagnostic imaging (MSDI) degree through the four-year, 43-semester-hour residency program.

Course work involves extensive teaching, clinical and research responsibilities and entrance into the new program will be competitive. The college plans to enroll a maximum of four residents during any given period, and at the rate of one new resident per year.

Graduate students in the master's program will complete a thesis as part of the requirement to earn the degree. In addition, graduates of the MSDI program will be qualified to sit for the diplomate (DACBR) examination administered by the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology.

New doctors of chiropractic who receive training in the specialty will be able to provide, as other chiropractic radiologists, consultative services of noninvasive, conventional and advanced imaging studies at the request of referring chiropractors. Graduates will also enjoy expanded career options in chiropractic radiology education, research and chiropractic clinical radiology.

For more information contact the program director Dr. John Taylor, at 315-568-3197 or jtaylor@nycc.edu
