Holiday happenings?

Are your employees under more stress than usual because of the holidays? If you are stymied about what you can do to help alleviate the stress, consider what other companies do. Here are the practices of other companies, according to a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM):

• Schedule holiday events during normal business hours (51 percent)
• Remind employees of the Employee Assistance Program (39 percent)
• Show appreciation for those who work during the holiday (33 percent)
• Casual dress for holiday parties (32 percent)
• Provide holiday food (30 percent)
• Early bonus for holiday shopping (23 percent)
• Floating days for holiday worked (20 percent)
• Reduced hours for errands (14 percent)
• Provide volunteer opportunities on company time (13 percent)
• Provide child care for errands (1 percent)
