ACA Fights Wal-Mart’s Plan to
Eliminate Chiropractic Benefits

Arlington, VA – Wal-Mart plans to do away with chiropractic benefits for its employees, despite evidence that chiropractic care is faster and less expensive than other health-care treatments. American Chiropractic Association President Daryl D. Wills has sent a letter to Wal-Mart President H. Lee Scott calling the policy a “discriminatory” one that “creates harm to employees and the public Wal-Mart insures.” Wills asked Scott to explain why Wal-Mart plans to stop chiropractic benefits as of Jan. 1.

He also told Scott that American Chiropractic Association members are “committed to seeing a chiropractic core insurance benefit reinstated,” and urged Wal-Mart officials to meet with ACA representatives.

ACA officials said they began investigating Wal-Mart’s policies involving the chiropractic profession more than a year ago. The organization plans to educate chiropractors and their patients on their rights to appeal denied claims.

In addition, the ACA encourages chiropractors to voice their concerns to Scott at the following address: Wal-Mart Stores Inc., 702 SW 8th St., Bentonville, AR 72716.
