Sherman College President Receives Recognition Award

Spartanburg, S.C. - Sherman College President Jerry L. Hardee recently received the Recognition Award from the Levi Strauss Foundation for his years of service and leadership with the Project Change organization.

He was also named chair emeritus of the Valdosta, Ga., Project Change and had previously received a recognition award from that chapter of the organization.

Project Change is an anti-racism initiative sponsored by the Levi Strauss Foundation aimed at helping residents of Valdosta increase racial and ethnic harmony. The Levi Strauss Foundation created Project Change in 1991 to address racial prejudice and institutional racism in several of the communities in which they house facilities.

It has been extremely rewarding to see the many positive changes that have occurred in Valdosta as a result of Project Change,” Hardee said.
