Greenawalt Honored by Association for the History of Chiropractic

Roanoke, Va. - Foot Levelers’ founder and president emeritus Dr. Monte Greenawalt has been named the recipient of Association for the History of Chiropractic’s 2002 Lee-Homewood Heritage Award. The award is given annually to “a living person who has made a distinguished career contribution of lasting significance toward the advancement of chiropractic.”

The AHC is a non-profit membership organization committed to exploring and preserving the rich heritage of the chiropractic profession.

Dr. P. Reginald Hug, president of the association, presented the award, given at the AHC’s annual conference, which took place recently in Portland, Oreg. Dr. William Holmburg (past recipient) accepted the award in Greenawalt’s absence.

The following commentary listing Greenawalt’s accomplishments was read:

“Dr. Greenawalt is a 1948 graduate of Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Ind. His first practice was in the basement of a bank building, and his ensuing success is a testimony to this hard work and innovation. He is best-known for his invention and development of custom-made, flexible foot orthotics manufactured and distributed by Foot Levelers, Inc., the company he founded in 1952.

Dr. Greenawalt’s commitment to the profession is maintained today at Foot Levelers, with their philosophy of giving back to the profession. The company has donated more than $3.5 million to chiropractic colleges, state and national associations, chiropractic research, and the Alliance for Chiropractic Progress.”
