S.O.S. Effort Seeks
To Defend Chiropractic
Washington, D.C. - The profession has united in an effort to promote S.O.S. or Save Our Subluxation, an alarm call for legal action to defend chiropractic. In a letter provided to doctors who attended the Parker Seminars 50th Anniversary in Las Vegas earlier this month, every doctor was urged to pledge at least $100 per month on an ongoing basis, to help boost the National Chiropractic Legal Action Fund (NCLAF).
The letter, signed by representatives of Parker College of Chiropractic, Foot Levelers, and the National Chiropractic Leadership Forum, stated: This profession cant allow PTs, DOs and MDs to steal the identification and treatment of subluxations. And we cant permit the insurance industry (Trigon and other blatant offenders) to squeeze us out of the health-care system with their discriminatory schemes.
One hundred percent of the monthly contributions will be placed immediately into the NCLAF, which supports critical battles such as the lawsuit against the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (formerly known as the Health Care Financing Administration), and the suit against Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield. The program allows you to pledge the monthly contribution for one year at a time via credit card debits; you can also make a one-time donation.
Doctors know how important malpractice insurance is, and you pray you never have to use it. This is a way to buy 'practice insurance, said Dr. Monte Greenawalt, official spokesperson for the NCLAF. This is a way to perpetuate your practice, and to perpetuate chiropractic.
The literature distributed at Parker said support for the NCLAF ...can mean the difference between a win and a loss in the courtroom, and a win and a loss for the profession.
For information or to make donations write to: National Chiropractic Legal Action Fund, P.O. Box 75359, Baltimore, MD 21275. Web registration should be available soon; updates will follow.
