Learning Resource Center
at Palmer Gets Funding Boost
Davenport, Iowa - Palmer College of Chiropractic has received $1.7 million to assist in a major expansion of library and learning resource facilities on the Davenport campus.
This is the second $1.7 million award in two years. The $3.4 million total in federal funds is a milestone for a chiropractic college, and will be augmented by money raised in a major capital campaign currently under way, Palmer Chiropractic University System chancellor Michael Crawford said.
The library expansion project will include a new Chiropractic Research Data Center to be accessed by chiropractic colleges, the chiropractic profession and the health-care industry. There will also be a Visitor Orientation Center for visiting students and their families, as well as chiropractic archives for Palmers extensive collection of historical artifacts, documents, bones and other rare material.
The learning resource center will connect Palmers Davenport and San Jose, Calif., campuses as well as the Port Orange, Fla., campus, scheduled to open in October 2002.
