Life Launches Postgraduate CA Series

Life University’s postgraduate education department is launching a 100-hour certification program for chiropractic assistants (CAs) beginning July 13.

The in-depth series of one-day seminars will teach participants about being a chiropractic team member. Each 10-hour module is taught on two Saturdays per month over a six-month period. The final program includes a Saturday review followed by a written and practical exam on Sunday.

CAs who successfully complete all 10 modules and the final exam will be awarded a certification and will have the opportunity to walk in one of the formal bi-annual Life University graduation ceremonies.

Each program is designed to give participants skills they can use as soon as they return to their offices. Veteran faculty members with considerable experience in both practice and the teaching of these subject areas will present each individual program.

“Many of these programs are not only essential for CAs, but will also offer excellent information and office skills for practicing doctors of chiropractic and chiropractic students,” said Dr. Angel Tribuno, director of the postgraduate education department at Life. “These modules - taken individually - can give DCs and DC students the knowledge and skill in filing insurance claims, office procedure, risk management, and essential office practice foundations fundamental for success.”

The programs being offered include:

• Module 1 - Chiropractic Philosophy and History, Business Principles, Front Desk Operations, and Computer Basics

• Module 2 - Insurance Procedures and Management

• Module 3 - Documentation, Narratives, SOAP Notes, Daily Notes, Summaries

• Module 4 - Exam Assistant: Upper Body - Anatomy, Patient History, and Orthopedic/Neurological evaluation

• Module 5 - Exam Assistant: Lower Body - Anatomy, Patient History, and Orthopedic/Neurological Evaluation

• Module 6 - Physiologic Therapeutics/Rehabilitative Procedures

• Module 7 - Radiographic Procedures, X-ray Safety, Patient Set-Ups, and Film Processing

• Module 8 - Risk Management, Emergency Procedures, and CPR

• Module 9 - Financial Consultation, Inter-Office Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Promotions, and Scripting

• Module 10 - Review, Written, and Practical Examination.

The pre-registration cost for all 10 modules is $250. Individual programs at the pre-registration fee are $50 each. For information, contact postgraduate education at 770-426-2753, or by e-mail at tribuno@life.edu. Visit the postgraduate education department on the web at www.life.edu
