Foot Levelers Fund Raises
Nearly Half a Million
Roanoke, Va. - Members of the chiropractic community opened their hearts and wallets by making a united donation to the American Red Cross of $456,555.32 through the Foot Levelers Emergency Matching Fund.
Moved by the devastating effect of the terrorist tragedies, Foot Levelers president Kent Greenawalt immediately launched an emergency challenge to the chiropractic profession. I just knew if any group in America could help, it would be the people in the chiropractic community, Greenawalt said. Weve been working with the profession long enough to know how deeply and dynamically chiropractors care for humanity, healing, and wholeness.

The two week challenge was to raise a total of $400,000 through a penny-for-penny matching campaign on behalf of the American Red Cross. Within minutes of the campaigns e-mail and fax announcement, the calls started pouring into Foot Levelers customer service department.
At first, the contributions came in primarily from individuals. But then a ripple effect started to happen, Greenawalt said. As the word got out, leaders in the chiropractic community started making collections doing the same thing - they challenged the people around them with matching as well - so that every dollar was doubly matched. It was fantastic to witness.
In related news, the American Chiropractic Association recently granted its Humanitarian of the Year award to Dr. Monte Greenawalt, founder of Foot Levelers, at the ACAs 38th annual meeting. Kent Greenawalt (his son) was bestowed the same honor in 1991.
