How Web Leads Work:
This is the process illustrated above, explaining how your banner's web leads are tabulated.
1. A user is viewing our website and sees your banner. The user clicks your banner because they are interested in what they see and wish to learn more. From this point, the user's browser takes them to your site, with one important stop along the way:
2. Before the user is taken to your site, they transparently stop at a tracking page which logs their click and then sends them to your site. This entire process occurs invisibly to the user and takes seconds.
3. After clicking the banner on our site, the user is presented with your site. Their click is logged via the tracking page in step 2.
Frequently asked questions:
Q. Can the clicks on the tracking page be duped or logged by any means other than someone clicking on our banner?
A. The simple answer is yes. However this number is very low and considered within the bounds of 'margin of error'. Since the tracking page exists on our site, it is possible that this page will be seen by search engine crawlers and web spiders, but we have taken measures to prevent this from happening. The occurence for 'duped' clicks is usually 1 or 2 per quarter (every 3-4 mos).
Q. How do I know who is clicking my banner?
A. There is no surefire way to tell who exactly clicked your banner. Web banners work in much the same way that billboards along a highway do. But, web banners do offer you more information than a simple billboard. Since we can track the number of clicks on your banner, we can tell you how much interest there was in your banner in a given timer period.
Q. My website has web log tracking software and your click-thru numbers don't match what our web server says. Why is that?
A. Right now, there are many tracking and logging technologies that exist on the web. Unfortunately there isn't a standard for click-thrus that is employed across the board. Our system of tracking is a very simple one. But, that simplicity can belie it's effectiveness. Our web lead tracking system as illustrated above works in such a way that the tracking step (step 2) can't occur without someone clicking your banner. We are confided that our system reports accurately and effectively.
Q. Where are your users coming from?
A. Chiropractic Economics' website's traffic is growing all the time. In the last year alone, we have increased traffic by 100%. Our recent redesign and constant maintenance draw a high concentration of practicing DCs, Students and CAs. Our traffic numbers are modest in relation to sites that draw much of their audience from consumer-level traffic. We are pleased with our numbers , because it shows that our audience is a concentrated part of a targeted niche. We feel we are going out to a quality audience, rather than a larger quantity audience whose traffic is diluted by consumer-level users.
Q. How can I learn more about the above process, and who do I contact with questions?
A. If you have any questions related to your current banner or wish to inquire about running a banner on chiroeco.com, please contact one of our National Account Executives. Please contact our webmaster with any technical questions or concerns.
