Dr. Zeigler Featured on Cover of Leading Chiropractic Publication
The article, titled “Leading though Education,” opens with details about Northwestern, what the University offers, and new developments and progression throughout past years. It then walks through Zeigler’s beginnings, and his journey that led him to where he is today. The article ends with some insights from the president about his hopes for the future of Northwestern, students, the profession, and healthcare. “It’s a great honor to be the first featured president in the publication,” Zeigler says. “I appreciate Chiropractic Economics giving me the opportunity to showcase Northwestern, and the education side of the chiropractic profession.”
Zeigler was interviewed by Stanford Erickson, the magazine’s editorial director, who flew up from Florida to spend some time with Zeigler. “As we advance further into the second century of chiropractic, leading educators like Zeigler are not only developing
Erickson believes Zeigler has played an important role in the recent growth and success of the university. “Since 1941, various presidents, staff, and faculty deserve great credit for developing Northwestern Health Sciences University as a unique holistic healthcare institution,” he notes. “But the outstanding growth in programs and facilities demonstrated by Northwestern in recent years can be directly attributed to the skill, leadership and stamina of Zeigler. Like all good leaders he makes everyone on the team better. He also has the practical, hands-on experience of being a doctor of chiropractic. Students know he has already successfully walked in the shoes that they are about to put on.”
Chiropractic Economics is distributed to 30,000 chiropractors, 20 times per year. According to Jeff Pruitt, advertising director at Chiropractic Economics, “Dr. Zeigler is moving the chiropractic industry out of the current way of thinking, while influencing people to support and donate to the university.” Pruitt adds that Zeigler is involved in not only the education and the students, but also in building community and giving back, which is part of his uniqueness.
"The Chiropractic Economics' feature was great exposure for Northwestern,” says Zeigler, “It gave me the opportunity to speak on behalf of the institution, and to explain the direction of the institution, as well as my position and concerns with healthcare.” The president believes the coverage is valuable to the university in that it allows people to understand where Northwestern stands today, and how it relates to the profession. “It speaks to the progress we’ve made, advancing education and applying it to where we will go in the future,” he notes.
“Whenever you visit a college campus, there is a certain excitement generated by students and faculty,” Erickson explains. “Campuses are sanctuaries of learning, challenge, knowledge, and inquiry. But the newly developed facilities at Northwestern are also impressive. It is gratifying to see the healthcare industry supporting higher education on such a spectacular scale.”
