Florida Health News (FHN), a not-for-profit, independent online news service, announces the re-launch of its website at www.floridahealthnews.org, with new and expanded content. As financially struggling newspapers shrink coverage of serious health issues in Tallahassee and across the state, FHN is filling the gap.

In its daily report, FHN posts summaries of the best stories around the state; publishes original articles from FHN™s own award-winning staff and correspondents; and links to national health news. The expanded news site introduces Analysis & Opinion, offering links to editorials, columns and blogs about health issues, along with a daily cartoon. Also debuting is Consumer Corner, a page designed for those who don't get their paycheck from the health care industry but care passionately about improving access, quality and efficiency. The site has been redesigned to improve navigation, content flow and visual interest.

Subscriptions to the daily eAlert, available at no charge, have more than doubled in the past year to more than 3,000. Almost 10,000 individuals visit the site in a typical month.

Launched in March 2007, Florida Health News is sponsored by the Florida Health Policy Center, a unique collaborative of Florida foundations dedicated to furthering access to neutral and objective health information. The members are: Allegany Franciscan Ministries, Inc., Florida Philanthropic Network, Health Foundation of South Florida, Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice, Jessie Ball duPont Fund, Palm Healthcare Foundation, Quantum Foundation and Winter Park Health Foundation.
