Northwestern Health Sciences University students plan for NCLC

December 2, 2008 — More than 500 students and doctors are expected to meet with legislators from across the country at the 2009 National Chiropractic Legislative Conference (NCLC) to lobby for issues facing the chiropractic profession. The conference will be held Feb 25-27 in Washington D.C., and could include 50 students from Northwestern Health Sciences University, says Michael Compton, a T7 chiropractic student and president of the Northwestern chapter of the Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA).

The conference gives students and doctors the chance to address legislators on issues facing the chiropractic profession. According to Compton, some of the

major issues will include chiropractors being enlisted in the armed forces as officers; all Veteran’s Affairs centers and military bases having a chiropractor on staff; chiropractors being included in national healthcare reform; gaining access to the government loan reimbursement program; and Medicare. The deadline to sign up for the conference is the last week of January. Those who register will be required to make a nonrefundable deposit of $100, which will allow for the flight and hotel booking.
