Animal chiropractic pioneer receives James W. Parker Founders Award

DrGigglemanFebruary 17, 2012 — Parker University honored Dr. Gene Giggleman, professor of Parker University, with one of the most highly regarded awards given by Parker University — the James W. Parker Founders Award.

“I don’t get moved to tears very often, but I had to take a deep breathe to come up here and accept this,” said Giggleman.

Giggleman graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. A practicing veterinarian with more than 30 years of experience, Giggleman has run several successful small animal veterinary practices in the DFW area since 1981.

He is also certified in animal chiropractic by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) and is co-founder of the Parker University Animal Chiropractic program where he serves as an instructor in the course, teaching doctors of chiropractic and veterinarians how to treat common ailments in animals with chiropractic adjustments.

Giggleman previously served as president of the AVCA. He has adjusted

animals for more than 20 years and often adjusted the late Dr. James W. Parker’s dogs. His passion for animals has inspired a lifelong dedication to animal chiropractic care.

Giggleman also instructs anatomy and science courses, numerous labs, and more at Parker University. He has been awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award more than 30 times, a testament to his dedication in teaching and his belief in the students.

Dr. Rose Lepien, a ’91 Parker graduate and former Parker Board of Trustees member, assisted in presenting the award to Dr. Giggleman. Dr. Lepien also received the James W. Parker Founders Award in 2007. To date, Dr. Lepien and Dr. Giggleman are the only two who’ve received the distinguished award.

“Dr. Giggleman was very special to Dr. Parker,” said Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, president of Parker University. “He’s also loved by our entire student body and faculty and staff. His devotion to students, chiropractic, animals, and Parker is outstanding.”
