The Vitality Depot ‘Ten for Ten’ Program to help chiropractors treat indigent patients

January 29, 2012 — The Vitality Depot's recently announced a groundbreaking philanthropy program called “Ten For Ten,” which offers chiropractic clinics a ten percent discount on clinical tables in exchange for the clinic pledging to treat ten people in need at no charge in the next year.

"The Vitality Depot is stepping up to support the generosity of the profession that helps those in greatest need of health care," explains Mark Mandell, DC, CEO of The Vitality Depot. "With 40 million Americans unable to afford healthcare services, many caring chiropractors and therapy clinics are quietly providing pro bono care. In this economy, we want to encourage more clinics to open their doors and provide charitable care."

Ten For Ten allows participating clinics to receive a ten percent discount on adjusting and therapy tables. In return, the clinics sign a non-binding pledge to treat ten needy patients for free in the coming year. The Vitality Depot accepts the honor and integrity of the clinic to simply

notify them of their completed pledge. Clinics that complete the pledge of treating ten free patients in need will be publicly celebrated.

“Our motivation for this program is to honor our chiropractic founders who faced persecution and imprisonment earlier in our profession, but still continued to provide necessary care to their patients,” notes Mandell. “My own grandfather Dr. Emmanuel Mandell, like many chiropractors of his time, was arrested 13 times for practicing chiropractic before New Jersey licensed chiropractic, but patients would still come to his jail cell for treatments. Let’s keep that professional spirit alive!”

"We believe in the good intentions of the healthcare profession. Our customers can use this program to provide care to ten or a hundred people in need, and we stand in support of that," continues Mandell. "Knowing the character of many of our customers, I anticipate that ten patients will be the start of their free care, not the finish."
