American Chiropractor Association Interviews TrekDesk Treadmill Desk CEO

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) November 15, 2010

The American Chiropractic Association’s publication ACA News, the most widely read news source specific to U.S. chiropractic developments, interviewed TrekDesk CEO Steve Bordley regarding the application potential of its treadmill desk for chiropractors nationwide.

“Ask any medical professional what is the single greatest challenge facing patient care today and they will relate the challenges involved in motivating patients to exercise,” stated Bordley. “The chiropractic profession experiences the same challenges especially when treating conditions caused by patients sitting almost an entire day in an office chair, we were anxious to share the health benefits to ACA’s members.”

According the National Institutes of Health 8 out of 10 individuals will suffer back problems at some point in their lives. The main reason? Chairs, lack of exercise and weight gain.

The Journal of the American Medical Association, found that spending on spine treatments in the United States totaled nearly $86 billion in 2005, a rise of 65 percent over eight years, after adjusting for inflation. Despite the spending increase, the proportion of people with impaired function due to spine problems actually increased during the period.

Many researchers suggest this is due to the

increase in obesity rates and the sedentary nature of most employees’ lives. Sitting puts nearly twice the strain on backs as standing and poor sitting postures exacerbate the problem further. Sitting also reduces the flexibility of the psoas (dominant hip flexor) affecting how the pelvis rotates and increases the stress on the lower back.

“Chiropractors recognize that an effective means of strengthening a patient's back is through walking, “ related Bordley, “ the challenge is motivating the patient to stick to a daily regimen. “

Designed to fit any existing treadmill, TrekDesk is an affordable, full sized workstation that allows individuals the opportunity to gain the necessary amount of exercise daily to maintain health, strengthen back and leg muscles, without requiring additional time during the day or extra motivation.
TrekDesk is currently available for sale online at TrekDesk.com for $479.00 including free shipping.
