Create photo opportunities
Local newspapers are always looking for interesting photos and images to fill their pages.
When you throw a fundraiser — either for a chiropractic cause or for a local charity — invite the local press to attend. (Don’t forget to invite local TV and radio stations, too.)
Even if the press does not show up, make sure you have good “action” photos taken. Send the newspaper photos and a press release immediately after the event while the event is still news. In the press release, report the amount of money raised, and the cause it will help. Provide quotes from you, as the sponsor of the event.
And one to give away
Instead of giving only one business card to a person, give two or three, saying: “This one is for you, and the others are for you to give to a business associate, family member, loved one, or friend whom you think will benefit from the great level of health chiropractic provides.”

Health awareness month
Make each month a health-awareness month. Choose symptoms or conditions that you prefer treating, such as fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, or sciatica.
Submit a press release or an article to your local newspaper and hand out flyers to your patients.
Place a banner on your building; gather and utilize patient testimonials; and highlight the symptom on your Web site.

Legal hiring
U.S. law requires all employers to verify their employees are eligible to work in the United States. To do this:
- Have each new hire fill out a Form I-9 within three days of starting work;
- Accept only original documents that confirm identify and authorization to work; keep copies with the I-9s;
- Store I-9s for current employees in alphabetical order, in one file. Store them for terminated employees, in chronological order, in a separate file; and
- Keep I-9s for three years for current employees and for one year after termination.
