‘Utlimate’ office fulfills a dream
When the vision for his practice included rehab and massage but his current office couldn’t be expanded to make room for these functions, James J. Flood, DC, decided to make a lifelong dream come true — to build his own office building.
His old office limited him in what he could offer his patients. And the old clinic was crowded. Patients bumped into each other going into and out of adjusting rooms. And there was always a bottleneck at the front desk.
Those problems are gone forever, according to Flood. The new building gives him plenty of room to adjust, provide massage therapy and rehab, do nutritional testing, and give patient-education seminars. It is large enough to accom-modate three chiropractors (Flood and two associates), two massage therapists, a financial manager, and two CAs.
These professionals take care of 300 patients per week.
Flood listed several reasons why he decided to build his own office:
• Dream come true. “I saw an opportunity to have income even after I retired from active practice,” he said.
• Ultimate office. A management group he belonged to came up with the idea of the ultimate office. It fit with his own dreams of what a chiropractic office should be.
• Improved image of chiropractic. “I wanted to help raise the image of chiropractic in the eyes of the general public,” he said.
• Healing environment. Flood also believes environment plays a role in the healing process, so he wanted to create a place where healing would start immediately when patients entered the office.
The new office meets his expectations. It includes:
-
Twice the space as the old location;
-
Two massage therapy rooms;
Three treatment rooms;
-
An office for associates;
-
A large business office;
-
Increased storage area;
-
Kitchen for the staff;
-
Rehab area, along with an area for physical therapy;
-
An x-ray room connected to an exam room so patients do not have to walk down the hall in a gown;
-
Separate bathrooms for the staff and patients;
-
Circular design flow;
-
Separate check-in and check-out stations;
-
Windows in almost every room;
-
A warm, comfortable waiting area,
-
A large skylight in the patient hospitality area; and
-
A waterfall in the waiting area.
