Meet the chiropractors

Image Headshot Janice AldenJanice Alden, DC, CCSP, has a chiropractic practice, Alden Chiropractic, in The Working Body (www.workingbody.net), in Oakland, Calif., a new concept in integrated health services.

Alden is one of three partners in The Working Body, a facility that brings together independent practitioners who collaborate for the benefit of the clients. The businesses include chiropractic, personal training, pilates, physical therapy, and massage therapy.

Image Headshot Sender DeutschSender Deutsch, DC, one of the creators and founders of SHAPE Health and Wellness Center Inc. (www.shapehealthandwellness.com) in Toronto, has his practice in the facility, along with other chiropractors, therapists, and trainers.

The facility is dedicated to providing a personalized approach to a client’s overall health, fitness, and performance through the seamless integration of physical therapy, chiropractic, medical acupuncture, and high-performance personal training. In practice for about five years, Deutsch, who can be reached at sender@shapehealthandwellness.com, sees about 60 patients a week.

Image Headshot William FerroWilliam M. Ferro, DC, Chiropractic Fitness Centers PC (www.chirofitnessclubs.com), owns and operates seven chiropractic fitness centers in Westbury and Amityville, N.Y., Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C., and Jacksonville, Fla.

Each clinic, located within a fitness center, sees from 120 to 185 patients per week, and has a patient-visit average of about 20. The clinics offer chiropractic, massage, and acupuncture. In some of the locations, the onsite chiropractor runs the personal training deparment, which creates revenue for the clinic and eliminates a concern from the fitness manager. Jeffrey G. Ruscitto, DC, CCSP, Lifeforce Chiropractic, Inc., (www.lifeforcechiropractic.com), Baldwin, Pa., has practiced chiropractic for 14 years.

He and his wife run Lifeforce Fitness Center. In his practice, Ruscitto provides chiropractic, personal training, nutritional counseling, total body maintenance and wellness, exercise therapy, and physical therapy. He can be contacted at lci@stargate.net.

James N. Wells, DC, WellSport (www.wellsport.com), Newport Beach, Calif., practices what he preaches. He has finished the Ironman competition six times, in less than 10 hours. With a BS degree in sports science and education, as well as a DC degree, Wells uses an interdisciplinary approach to develop personal training programs to help athletes (including elite-amateur, past Olympians, and world-class athletes) reach higher levels of performance.
