The right software can make your practice more efficient. In Issue 12, our annual software issue, we provided you with a roundup of practice-management software programs.

Phases rehab

Phases rehab lets doctors customize patient exercise programs to increase patient compliance. Six categories of training offer something for every patient — from the most acute to the most athletic: stretches, proprioception, gym ball, floor, tubing, and free weights. Various print options included are suitable for chiropractic clinics, gym settings, rehab clinics, and home care programs. Version 3.0.1 allows users to edit the exercise text add their own digital photos, add personal notes, and filter or search through the database.

Phys-X Advanced

Phys-X Advanced software from Arena Health Systems creates custom exercise prescriptions for patients, with 482 of the most often prescribed range-of-motion, stabilization, and strengthening exercises. The application also saves all prescription information to disk for easy recall. Other features are full-color photographs, multiple formatting options, password protection for HIPAA compliance, Spanish-language compatibility, and network support to share with other users.

ChiroClips

ChiroClips digital clip art enhances chiropractic print materials. The image libraries include the chiropractic caduceus, logos for business cards and stationery, anatomical illustrations for forms or patient education, positive images of chiropractors and patients appropriate for all occasions, lighthearted seasonal images, and cartoons. Prepared as TIFF files, the images can be used with virtually any word processing, publishing, or art program.

ChiroPlanet

ChiroPlanet provides content-based, e-commerce Web sites and recently released an online Web site manager. This feature allows users to build and edit Web sites online, through an easy-to-use, intuitive interface. Users can add, delete, and edit pages; create newsletters; manage mailing lists; and more. This service provides chiropractors with their own patient education Web sites. Included are templates for monthly newsletters, animated exercise and stretching instructions, and e-commerce services.

Physiologic Blind Spot Imager

The Physiologic Blind Spot Imager, by Concepts in Wellness, is an interactive computerized system that allows both blind spots to be mapped in approximately 2 minutes. The software is accompanied by a chin stabilization device to keep the distance from the retina to the focal spot the same between serial tests, assuring standardization and reliable data. The standard version comes with chin rest and eye occluder; the enhanced version includes a database.

Symptom Survey Maestro

Symptom Survey Maestro by Greene Software is a symptom analysis system. With custom algorithms based on over 25 years of clinical experience, the application evaluates patient symptom survey forms and suggests nutritional supplementation based on a modified symptom group analysis and traditional nutrition and herbal therapies.

The system also manages a patient database, storing entered forms, and manages patient orders, calculating the actual bottle amounts needed to fill the protocol. With additional support information and reports, this program helps increase patient compliance by educating them about whole-food dietary concepts.

Qpuncture II

Qpuncture II is educational software for learning acupuncture. With approximately 200 3-D illustrations and a search and print function, this application is useful not only in studying acupuncture, but also in practicing acupuncture. The CD contains illustrations and explanations of acupuncture, herbal medication, and auriculotherapy. Illustrations include anatomical information for the muscle, bone, artery, and nerve of each acupoint. The Pain Clinic section has detailed explanations about acupuncture, and herbal medication about diversified diseases.

Reminder Pro

JulySoft’s ReminderPro calls patients automatically with appointment reminders and other important messages. This application is designed to reduce no-shows, ease staff overload, provide consistent communication, and save time and money. The system allows users to create customized phone messages in their own voice, and features flexible answering machine handling, multiple language options, operator transfer, and call reporting. NuTrak nutrition and life tracking system by Brainchild Software provides a database of foods, dietary supplements, human activities, and physical results. The user can expand the database to include any nutrient, dietary supplement, drug, activity, or reaction. Goals can be constructed with desired nutrient intake, time spent performing activities, and desired results. By keeping a journal, the user receives comprehensive nutritional and goal achievement analysis. The application can be used for dieting, fitness programs, tracking allergies, or controlling vices.
