Mixing work and play
College events offer complete educational opportunities

High school and undergraduate homecoming events usually center on football games and tailgate barbeques. Homecoming events for chiropractic colleges are a little different: They center on learning.

Chiropractic Economics asked the country’s chiropractic colleges to tell us about their premier educational events. We found that whether these events are called “homecoming” or go by another name (such as Lyceum), chiropractors can earn continuing education credits for license renewal and participate in practice-building sessions. And many of these affairs provide learning opportunities for family members and for chiropractic assistants.

Top name speakers — from within the chiropractic profession as well as outside of it — are also a feature at many of these events. For a modest fee, you can learn from the best.

If you are ready for a “change of educational scenery” or just want to visit another college campus to meet new people, we offer the following roundup of premier educational events for your consideration.

Cleveland Chiropractic College
Cleveland Chiropractic College’s Cleveland Conference will be held June 10-13, 2004, as well as in late fall 2004 or early in 2005. The event generally draws 200-500 attendees, and offers an expo of vendors, continuing education credits and several seminars with various guest speakers.

The college, located in Kansas City, Mo., also offers more than 100 post-graduate-level seminars throughout the year. Visit www.cleveland.edu or call 800-467-2252 for more information.

Life University
The LifeSource/Homecoming event at Life University, July 22-25, 2004, is expected to attract 1,000-1,500 attendees. The event is broken down into four educational tracks, each containing five blocks.

Tracks include Technique, Science, Practice and Theme. Attending doctors are eligible to earn up to 26 continuing education hours. The event will feature an expo with vendors, activities for children, a prospective student program and a CA program in addition to courses for doctors.

Life is located in Marietta, Ga. For more information, call 800-543-3202 or visit www.life.edu.
