Truth in advertising

1974 — The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires advertisers to support claims about nutritional value with information about the product listed on the packaging, including a food’s vitamin, caloric and protein contents.

Also that year:

_ The Supreme Court rules that presidential executive privilege is not unlimited.

_ The Safe Drinking Water Act sets the standards for water pollution in the United States. When drinking water supplies throughout the country are tested, cancer-causing chemicals are found in all samples.
