New Public Relations Program Approved for State Organizations

1970 — A master public relations program available for implementation by all states was adopted by the Board of Governors of the American Chiropractic Association, meeting in convention at Honolulu, Hawaii on June 21-26.

Prepared by ACA’s Public Affairs Department, the PR plan is designed to:

1. Give each cooperating state the personnel, guidelines, supervision and organization needed to effectively carry out ACA’s recommended public relations program.

2. Offer each state the opportunity to use its public relation funds more efficiently.

3. Give cooperating states the aid and direction they are desperately seeking.

4. Standardize chiropractic’s message and image-building approach throughout the United States.

5. Create a single source of chiropractic information within each state.

6. Establish a basic PR program which could eventually develop into a cooperative campaign with ample funds to carry out an in-depth nation-wide campaign.

The public relations program sets up the machinery and formulates a procedure and master plan for the establishment of a Chiropractic Information Bureau within each state. It is a practical program which not only offers supervision and guidance, but also provides for training by ACA of state public relations personnel.

This program gives every state — even those where there are multiple state chiropractic associations — the ability to establish an effective public relations arm that works cooperatively with similar groups in other states. In so doing, it will enjoy the creative and cost-saving benefits of affiliation with a network of Chiropractic Information Bureaus.

Complete details of the PR master plan are being forwarded to all state association presidents and ACA state delegates. Additional copies are available on request.

It is anticipated that the program will get underway in early 1971.
