Kentuckiana opens its doors

Dr. Lorraine Golden, 19601957 — In October 1957 Palmer graduate Lorraine M. Golden, D.C. accepted the first patients at the non-profit Kentuckiana Children’s Center in Louisville, Ky. The center specializes in comprehensive care for mentally and physically handicapped children, provides this care at no cost to the chilren’s families and depends upon voluntary contributions for its support.

Over the next several decades Golden’s charity would be featured repeatedly in the pages of the Digest of Chiropractic Economics, and would bring credit to the profession. Kentuckiana successfully integrated chiropractic services with a variety of other healthcare services to best meet the needs of the children.
