• Jacob Bjerknes, a meteorologist, uses high-altitude photographs in preparing weather forecasts;
• Hollywood develops three-dimensional movies. Natural-Vision (3-D) films must be viewed through special eyeglasses; after brief success, the novelty wears off;
• Panty raids are carried on at college campuses throughout the country.
