1952 — Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) are
reported flashing across night skies across the country.
They are detected visually and on radar near Washington,
D.C. Also that year:
- President Truman announces that he will not run
for a second term;
- Jacob Bjerknes, a meteorologist, uses high-altitude
photographs in preparing weather forecasts;
- Hollywood develops three-dimensional movies.
Natural-Vision (3-D) films must be viewed through
special eyeglasses; after brief success, the novelty
wears off;
- Panty raids are carried on at college campuses
throughout the country.
