The Rosenbergs

1951 — Julius Rosenberg and Ethel Rosenberg are found guilty and sentenced to death for conspiring to transmit classified military documents to the Soviets. They are executed in 1953. Also that year:

  • An additional 70 broadcast frequencies are made available for television in the ultra-high frequency (UHF) range;
  • Antabuse, a drug that prevents alcoholics from drinking, is introduced.
