1947 — Ohio chiropractor Herbert Reaver is sentenced to six months in prison for practicing medicine without a license.

His patients demonstrated for his release with placards that read “We Want Our Doctor.”

The late Dr. Reaver (1906–2000) is known as the most jailed chiropractor. He was arrested a dozen times in Ohio for practicing without a state medical association permit and served four jail sentences, the longest of which was six months.
