The end of WWII

1945 — The United States drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, killing or injuring about 135,000 people. After a second bomb is dropped on Nagasaki, Japan announces its unconditional surrender.

  • Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College is founded in Ontario, Canada 9/18
  • Hitler commits suicide in the underground Reichs Chancellery. German emissaries sign an unconditional surrender to Rheims, France. The end of World War II is proclaimed the following day.
  • President Roosevelt dies of a cerebral hemorrhage; Vice President Truman becomes President.
