1906 — This year was full of chiropractic
news:
- Drs. D. D. and B. J. Palmer organize the Universal
Chiropractors’ Association, which is later
renamed the International Chiropractors Association.
- Drs. D. D. and B. J. Palmer publish their first
book, “The Science of Chiropractic.”
- Modernized Chiropractic, chiropractic’s
first textbook, is published by Solon Langworthy,
Oakley Smith, and Minora Paxson, three early disciples
of D. D. who had severed ties with Davenport and
launched the rival American School of Chiropractic
and Nature Cure in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
- D. D. Palmer is found guilty of practicing medicine
without a license and serves 23 days in Scott County,
Iowa, jail. B. J. Palmer takes up position of principle
of Palmer School because of his father’s imprisonment.
- Former PSC faculty member John Fitzalan Howard,
DC, starts the National School of Chiropractic in
Davenport, Iowa.
- M. M. Stone, DC, founds the Texas College of
Chiropractic in San Antonio, Texas.
